what we do

Community

FLS consists of motivated, passionate CSOM students with diverse academic interests and involvements. During their freshman year, members will attend weekly meetings with their class to promote bonding and foster community. Our Member Engagement committee focuses on ensuring these bonds continue well past freshman year through coffee chats, outings into Boston, and other fun events that bring the whole club together. Beyond these programs, FLS also strives to make an impact in the larger BC and Boston communities. Whether it’s through our CSOM minor advising program, volunteer days at placements around Boston, or running the annual Red Bandana Run as a team, we are always looking for ways to engage with the communities we are lucky enough to be a part of.

Committees

Mission Statement: The goal of this pillar is to ensure that FLS provides a home within CSOM for all of its members. Through the carrying on of important club traditions, organizing fun and engaging events, and organizing family trees, the Community pillar attempts to preserve and advance the family atmosphere that all within the club know and love.

Event Planning: The Event Planning Committee coordinates and organizes large-scale community-building events for the club. These responsibilities include organizing the Yearly Banquet, the Formal, our pre-Fall semester weeklong service project “First Serve” and various fundraising events.

Member Engagement: The Member Engagement Committee facilitates the day-to-day bonding within the club. Their responsibilities include organizing family trees, leading the intramural teams, creating the FLS Manual, setting up coffee dates and the FLS Retreat. Through planning events, such as on-campus retreats and off-campus excursions, the Member Engagement committee will foster interclass bonding and promote student development.
